Default I have 60 points for subclass 190 should i still do ielts for 70 or higher

It looks like I meet the minimum 60 points mark to apply for the subclass 190 visa , would doing ielts and getting more points be of benefit

State nomination Subclass190 5
Age range 25
Degree 15
Work experience in Ireland ten years continuous 15

If it was me , I would do the trst and apply for the 189 and not bother with state sponsorship. It's quicker than waiting for the state to get back to you and you are free to live and work anywhere

I turned 39 in may , I need to get going or my points drop by 10 when I hit 40 . Is my age frozen at 39 once the visa is applied for or am I subject to a points drop until the visa is granted. As it turns out Victoria are the state sponsoring my occupation which suits me because I want to live in Melbourne. I've family there

Your age is frozen when you apply. So, if I were you I would do the test and get the skills assessment etc going.

I would do the IELTS and apply for the 189. Your age does get frozen. It's also not a "60 points and you're in" situation - 60 points is just the minimum to be able to submit an EOI. Each draw they rank the EOIs based on points (highest points first). You can have 60 points and never get drawn. So, get the maximum number of points possible before submitting.

Why isn't this thread in the visa section of this forum?

Because it's in the wrong place but none of us mods had our psychic powers working terribly well today, and nobody had reported the thread and asked for it to be moved.

Next time, please just hit the 'report' button and one of us will move it, I only happened to see this as I was browsing but otherwise we wouldn't know.

Thx.

sometimes it seems like that - sometimes its just a reflection of how we are feeling since sometimes how we read something is not / was not how it was written if that makes sense.
