Just an FYI for those suggesting alternate English tests...

At the moment Engineers Australia is only accepting IELTS, so if the OP needs to show English ability s/he will need IELTS results and not any of the other DIBP-accepted English tests.

From the EA FAQ page:
Will you accept the TOEFL, or the Pearsons Test of English (PTE) in lieu of the IELTS

No. For the Migration Skills Assessment with Engineers Australia, you will need to submit an IELTS test result form with a score of 6 in each of the 4 modules. Alternative English Tests will not be accepted.

IELTS may also be needed because of age and points requirements... A UK or NZ or Canadian or USA passports only exempts you from the test but only offers de facto proof of "proficient" English - that's only what, 10 points out of a possible max of 20.

But in those cases, I believe other English proficiency tests may also be accepted.

Proof of English by way of exempted country only gives competent English and 0 points!
