EOI Help

Hi guys,

I have just submitted an EOI for 189 and 190 visa with 70 and 75 points respectively as a software engineer.
I selected ANY state in the form for state nomination.

I can see that in the latest invitation round for 189 candidates with 75 and more are invited.
I would like to ask if someone has idea what are my chances for 189 with 70 points?

Another question I have is for state sponsorship, is it ok to select Any state or should I change it and select a specific state? Do I need to submit any other application for state sponsorship or the states are checking SKillSelect and the EOI?

Thanks

Is your skill on the list for every State and do you meet all the requirements for each of those States/Territories? Job offersetc.
Note that Northern territory usually offers 489s instead of 190s these days, and Victoria are known for wanting commitment.

I actually don't know if my profession is on the list for every State, but it is on the list for NSW and Victoria. I prefer to get an invitation from NSW, but it's not a strict requirement and I can move to any state if they invite me.

Which state is easier to get invite as a software engineer?

You need to check each State to see if your skill is on the list, and to determine each State's requirements.

ok I am checking the list. My skills are on NSW and Victoria's lists, but what if I only want to apply for nomination for NSW and Victoria and not all states? Do I submit 2 different EOI?

You need to apply tons state and gain that states sponsorship. Note, there is no gauruntee of a state sponsoring even if it is on the states list and you need to check the particular requirements for that state and that occupation

When I submitted my EOI I went to the government of SA and asked them to sponsor me. They want specific details uploaded like proof of IELTS and a professional reference. I got an invitation to apply for a visa 10 days later! X

When you say you went to the government of SA, what do you mean???
We’ve submitted our EOI for 189 visa back in October, and hoping to move to Adelaide.
My wife is a nurse and currently sitting on 65 points. It goes up to 70 next month as her experience in post hits 8 years.

State sponsored visas (190) have an additional step requiring you to be sponsored by the state which is not relevant to a 189 visa.

However, if you are struggling to be invited to apply, 190 visas come with an additional 5 points, but also guaranteed invite if successfully sponsored:

State and territory sponsored visas

State or territory governments will identify and select skilled workers that they wish to nominate. State and territory governments might assess people before they nominate them. If you are nominated by a state or territory government and you have indicated that your points score is above the current pass mark for that visa, you will receive an invitation to apply from the SkillSelect system. When you complete an EOI that includes one of these visa types, you will be asked which state or territory you wish to seek nomination from. You will be able to select one state or territory, or any state or territory. If you select one state or territory only, then staff from that government body will be able to view your EOI for this visa type. If you select any state or territory, staff from all state or territory governments will be able to see your EOI for this visa type.
