Default visa points vs invitation points

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm an accountant from Scotland, my partner and I are looking to apply for a 189 or 190 visa. We are trying to decide whose occupation to submit the application under (accountant or plumber).

I've been looking accountant (general) or management accountant as these both are roles I have done. I've noticed that the invitation points last month were 85 for both. Without the English test I'm sitting at 55 (Due to my experience being 1 month under the 3 year min) so obviously I need to sit the English test, which is fine.

My question is, once I get the English results, either proficient or superior, this still doesn't give me 85 points. What are the chances of being offered a visa with 65/75 points?

Thanks

The 85 point issue is being investigated as a possible issue due to visa fraud. However, it is still normally a minimum of 75 points for an accountant to get invited.

By the time you get the English test done and receive the results you will surely have the extra month of work to get the 3 years experience points?

That would put you at 80 (if you can get Superior English - which I suggest doing some prep work prior to the test to ensure you get it).

Best of luck!

It's worth investing in some IELTS tuition in order to get the 8s.
