It looks like depending on your qualification you need between 2 years and 6 years experience (8 if no quals) after which you will be deemed skilled if I'm reading it correctly

This is the guideline from the ACS website - http://www.acs.org.au/__data/assets/...f-Criteria.pdf

As per George's posting above, "... every applicant should get advice from their agents concerning the best approach."
You should be paying for professional advice if you are unclear about your options having read this thread and the links it contains.
Best regards.

Thanks Alan,
Yes everyone, sadly the ACS policy commentary is not the end of the story. Until DIAC and the ACS are able to co-ordinate policy then it's a fraught situation and yes, agents are best placed to make informed opinions.
Cheers,
George Lombard

So reading the criteria, if the degree is closely related to your occupation, then you would need 2 years experience to be classed as skilled, and if its not closely related, you would need 4. BUT I'm reading exactly what you are reading and for the best advice, ask a MARA registered agent.

Given that visa applicants are faced with losing the Visa Application Charge if they overclaim points on the EoI it puzzles me why some who are unclear about their work experience situation are seeking to rely on comments on forums such as this.
I'm not here to speak for George and other agents, but I anticipate that no MARA agent of any repute is going to give a categoric assurance as to an individual's work experience position unless the agent is formally appointed.
In summary, if in doubt about your work experience position and it is important in the context of your skilled visa application, engage a competent registered migration agent. Or be prepared to lose the Visa Application Charge if the DIAC case officer disagrees with the points claimed on the Expression of Interest.
Best regards.

Hi,
If I am allowed to ask that question here - has there been anyone else who just recently received their "vendor certification" ? I am concerned if any of the 6 years of work experience (received *prior* to the certificate) basically goes out of the window now due to the "deeming date"..
Thanks so much for anyone knowledgeable of this topic and caring to answer....

Hi,
In this thread we have not come to a conclusion yet either DIAC consider the experience before deeming date or not!!!
I think any agent can help us to protect us from this situation...
Thank you
