Default Certifying Documents

Hi all.

I've looked high and low for information on this but the advice seems conflicting.

Exactly which profession is able to certify documents in the U.K. for Australian immigration (189/190)? Some places say a policeman or woman can. Others say it has to be a magistrate or a solicitor. Some say a MARA registered agent can. The DIBP info seems a bit vague/unspecific on the area as well (just 'someone recognised in law').

Has anyone got experience in the U.K. In finding someone to do it for free or cheap?

Cheers

Depends what you are doing them for. If for skills assessment it can vary.

For the actual application on line, colour scans will suffice no need to certify. The info is confusing though. But many have done this with no issue as long as colour all good. Paper applications require certification though.

To be safe check with the assessing body direct.

Thanks for your reply. I must have missed it when you made it.

Got documents for skills assessment certified yesterday by a friend who's a lawyer. Got a spare set done as well. Hopefully will have no problem.
