Australian Federal Police Check for 189 visa if I am in India
Hi Folks,
I stayed in Australia from Dec2011-May2014 due to onsite assignment for my hubby.
I applied for PR online 189 visa for my family on April2014 and attached the certified copies required from Aussie but unfortunately we returned to India when the process was half-way through.
I received invitation on June4th and replied on June 26th 2014.After my medicals are assessed,I attached my Police Check Certificate today morning.Later when I checked my mail,I received a mail from my CO for the first time for Police Clearance Certificates(PCC) that too AFP's.
I have asked for clarification and he is yet to reply.
Thought of posting the same query here to get better idea.
Is AFP check required if I am currently in India?
Is my attached Indian PCC not valid?
The status in Immi page for the document is still "required" not "received" so I guess he has not yet seen the Indian PCC(For all my other docs it changed to Received once it was seen by the concerned person on the other side).
My question is should I still do AFP if I am in India?
If so,what is the procedure?I came to know there is Fingerprint check also done for some cases(through Google).
Can someone clarify?
Many a thanks in advance.

Usually it takes 4-5 weeks for you to receive your AFP certificate in India. They send it through Australia Post. No other option available. This is what I did.
I got it delivered to a local address in Australia. (A friend of mine)
He sent the same letter to me via FedEx.
Total time: 1 week.
