Exclamation About australian work experience

Hi,
I saw that in new system one can get 10 points if he/she employed in a closely related skilled occupation for 1 yr in australia.

Now , I have Bsc in computer science(from my country) and will do my masters(2 years,in australia) in IT from australia. As a student I can only work 20hr/week .

Now my question is that within this 2 years if I work in IT helpdesk (20hr/week) for 1 year ...can I claim 10 points after 2 year ?

Hope it is clear. Please help me. Thanks.

I am guessing that you might be able to qualify for the 10 points since you already have qualifications in IT (in your undergrad) and must work at least 20 hours per week, but will also depend if your case officer considers your job in IT helpdesk as a closely related occupation to your nominated occupation. You can look at this link to see what DIAC has to say about the rule:

This may still be tentative so it might be better to check again when all is finalised.

I have been working while studying – can that work be counted towards claiming points for Australian work experience?
To be eligible to be awarded points for Australian work experience you must have been working at a skilled level. That means that work undertaken before you have completed your degree, diploma or trade qualification will not be considered unless you have other qualifications in that field.

I doubt that working in a IT call centre could be classified as 'skilled IT' employment, particularly when you are doing a Masters degree in IT!

Thanks for the replies.
your degree, diploma or trade qualification
But I already have a BSc degree . They did not mention a "masters" ..and as
diploma is accepted so why not Bsc ? and also it does not say that ..it should be a australian "degree" !!!

Whether they allow the "call center" job or not its a different issue ..i may got a junior admin job ...but I am not sure whether they accept my Bsc or not
Is there any one who can put some light on it

Not every foreign Bachelors degree is equivalent to an Australian degree. And even if it is, it doesn't mean that the work is automatically "skilled".

'PR' while working as a oracle programmer(MODL) in my country....without "masters" ....as he got 'PR' so surely ACS accepted his bsc ?? isnt it ??
