Unhappy *NEED advice and a sponser to move to australia *

Hi,

Just looking for any advice I can get really. My wife and 6YO would like to move to Australia. I am a floor layer and I mainly specialise in Vinyl. Unfortunately I have been informed that I would need to find a sponsorship from an employer and I can then apply a 457. Does anyone have any advice on finding a sponsorship ?

My wife is also a local area coordinator in England and the job role originated from Australia so there is lots available but we just cant find sponsorship ones...

any help that's possible please

Do either of you have an occupation on the CSOL - https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/...ons-lists/CSOL - for which you could pass the skills assessment? Assessing bodies should be next to the occupation, and assessments usually require a mix of qualification and experience.

Thank you very much for you repsonse. We did try and this is what they replied.
You have selected Floor Finisher which is on the Consolidated Skilled Occupations List (CSOL).
Any skilled visa application that nominates an occupation on the CSOL must be sponsored by an Australian State or Territory Government. At the moment there are no States or Territories offering sponsorship for your nominated occupation and therefore you are not eligible to lodge a skilled visa application at this time.
Your best option is to try and obtain an employer sponsored 457 visa.

So we have to find a sponsor. Although we have emailed 7 companies in Perth alone without trying anywhere else and in 4hrs I've been offered 6months work trial of my references are up to scratch so fingers crossed something can come out of it!! Thanks again

Why Perth? WA is very expensive and currently in a real downturn job wise.

I'd keep trying, in all States/Territories. Personally I can't see a floor laying company wanting to sponsor (at their expense) an unknown from overseas when there are likely a fair few on their doorstep with resumes in hand. However that's not to say don't try because you may get lucky. A six month trial, considering how much it'll cost them sounds a bit iffy to me but if it's legit, take it but leave family in the UK. If you manage to get a 457 and you own your property in the UK, try and rent it out rather than selling it. Good luck.

Are you sure these people understand you don't have a visa?

Also do you realise a 457 is a temporary visa?

You need to understand what a 457 visa is.

First, it is a temporary visa with no automatic path to anything else. So, you would have to assume you would be returning at the end of the visa which is between one day and four years.

It is tied to the employer, so, if you were to lose the job for any reason you would have 60 days to find another company willing and able to sponsor or leave the country - not many company's can not sponsor.

There are a range of other issues such as many states including WA charge for eduction for any children on temporary visas

Yes I'm aware the visa I'm temporarily.
I've informed all the employers on my resume I would need sponsorship and they have said they would talk me through a 457 and the requirements.
I was told by a recruitment company in Perth that flooring is picking up in the area. Particularly for shopping centres. Are 457's expensive for
Employers then? I was under the expression they prefer temp than permanent.

Thank again guys just want to make sure every leaf is turned as
This is massive for us all.

We don't have a property here know just £25000 which we were going to get a mortgage with but we don't want to stay here. We are only 27 so we are taking the plunge really

And mean maybe there's no chance of me getting a sponsorship at all and maybe I'm completely
Mad but I might aswell
Try it. I'm happy with temporary because I'm confident in my working ability to prove I'm worthy of permanent position. 4 out of 7 companies in just the Perth area have responded, 2 interested. I'm going to attempt
The other areas 1 by 1. Even if those ones don't go anywhere at least they respond unlike English employers and in less that 24 hours!
Yes we are aware of the school fees. We have some money set aside and we also havent sold our cars yet which we will need to do and any other goods we won't be keeping.

This seems the only way I can get a visa for us so I either have to find a sponsorship or give up and stay in England : (

Nothing at all wrong with the UK but I understand if you want the experience of living overseas it's hard to feel as though you're stuck where you are.

In response to the employer preferring temp over permanent, I've always been of the impression trades like flooring prefer casual over permanent and that is, of course, something completely different. They like the ability to just lay people off when business is slow rather than having to keep them on regardless.

However if companies are showing an interest that's great. Make sure you find out exactly what they would be offering you though and in writing before you agree to anything. May sound obvious but lots of people fall foul of the 457 so it's worth mentioning.

I have lived in Perth for 10 years. I am being positive.

In the time I've been here I have seen a massive change in the economy. Huge job losses as the mining sector has shrunken. A lot of the tradies who would have been working in the mines are now in the city scrounging for work. My partner worked in the mines for 27 years but is now in a job making about 1/2 the pay her would have been on 5 years ago. My workplace has gone from 5 full time people doing what I do down to 2 of us. Redundancies and businesses closing down are not unusual here in WA.

I'm not terribly down on Perth as I used to be. However I am realistic and think that the days of walking into the country and being ahead immediately are gone.

On the visa front, be aware it is nothing to do with proving yourself or working hard or anything else in order to get pr.

You would be reliant on the company later offering to sponsor you. That in turn would be reliant on you still being eligible - occupations that are not being sponsored by any states are often removed from the list. Meaning you wouldn't even be eligible. It also requires the company are eligible. Many are not.

So, you would have to assume you will be returning at the end of the 457.

As for buying a property, it is possible on a 457, but not easy or wise. You would need to obtain foreign investor approval (FIRB) and buying a property when on a visa with a finite end and one which if made redundant would mean you only have 60 days to leave the country would not be very sensible.

The first thing I would do is double check your eligibility for a permanent visa as at the moment Tasmania pretty much sponsor the entire CSOL list.

Hi
Thanks. We are looking to rent and won't be buying unless we get permanent residency.

An English guy who originally comes from Brighton called me today. He owns a flooring firm in australia and is really keen to employ me on a full time basis. They are currently looking into the sponsorship now as I'd be the first. He said the company is doing very well and not many are as specialised as me or the ones that are are near to retirement.

If We don't end up getting permanent residency then at least we can come back with an experience. you only live once. YOLO

He also said the kids have their PE lessons on the beach and have surfing lessons. Sounds better than the cross country I got to do
