RSMS 857 when does the 5-8 month begin?
Hey gang....
Just a quick question on the 857 visa the talk from DIAC is between 5-8 months. My question is does this time period begin from when we lodged our application or from when the employers application went into the NT government or when it was received at Melbourne. Hope that makes sense!;) Thanks Ems x :D |

5-8 months is a long time, I was under the impression that 857's we're quicker than that as you are onshore.
Usually they are quoting times from when you lodge your application (so after RCB approval). I got my 857 in Perth in two weeks from lodging the application, this was DRC through an agent though. You planning to use an agent? Would probably speed things up considerably! |

Its all approved by the NT gov for the RSMS and we have been verbally advised (as I phoned) by Melbourne that they have received the application. We also noted yesterday that the visa fee has been taken, lol:rofl: no surprises there. We were told that even though onshore could still take between 5-8, fingers crossed its sooner! thanks and congrats on yours! Ems x |

Ah ok, good luck then! - I'm sure it doesn't take that long, there are a few RSMS threads on the PIO forum, you'll be able to see from there the timescales people have been getting.

Thanks. You too. I am pretty pessimistic though, just because so much has gone wrong. We must have been bad in a previous life.

It does if they lodge your application as decission ready, a thing you can only do with an agent. According to George Lombard that is the difference between 5-8 months or 2-3 months.
