I've seen that I can request my passport back whilst I'm waiting, so I've phoned my doctor to arrange a chest x ray and I'm going to arrange for my police records this afternoon. I've got my wife collecting evidence of our relationship today whilst I'm working, hopefully I can have everything in the post in the next couple of weeks :-D

Well in the end, i went for a temporary work visa - partner of a NZ citizen which was approved this week, trouble is now, we had planned on coming to New Zealand again for 1st December 2017 after a 2 week holiday on the way in Thailand, however, my visa has stated the the last date of entry is 7th October 2017, which has scuppered our plans .

I've emailed immigration to see if anything can be done about it. No big deal if it can't be changed i guess, just won't be able to take a nice holiday beforehand.

Oh well. Thailand isn't going anywhere. Perhaps pull your own plans forward.

Just an update...

We've booked our tickets

We fly to Bangkok for 7 nights on 27th September, then on to Auckland and arrive on 6th October 2017. We're in serious saving mode now so we've got a good start when we get there. We have PSS coming next Monday to quote us for moving our stuff. We still haven't decided where we ultimatley want to be, but we keep looking at businesses for sale in KeriKeri / Paihia, Auckland and Tauranga /Mt Manganui as i think we'd like our own cafe / bar business rather than to work for someone else. We have the luxury of my wifes' parents accommodating us to start with so that'll help even more with savings too. See you all in 5 months
