UK Working Holiday Visa questions
Hello there,
I've already obtained a 23 month Working Holiday Visa (WHV) and I'm currently trying to ascertain the types of job that will be available to me when I arrive. I'm a software developer here in England, and I'd like to work in this field in New Zealand.
My plan is to work for the first 6 to 12 months to build up some more savings, and then spend the remaining time/money travelling around the country.
The immigration website (link below) states that I can work for up to 12 months, but can't accept a permanent job.
https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...g-holiday-visa
I'm a little bit confused by what they mean by a permanent job? Could I not accept a permanent position and then quit after a year? Or would I be better suited looking for short, temporary or 'contract' work?
I'm guessing most people on the WHV partake in casual work to fund their holiday. Does anybody here have any experience with working in a more 'professional' environment for the allotted 12 months of the scheme? Are software companies likely to dismiss my job applications when they see I'm on a WHV?
Any advice would be greatly received!
Dan.

Re: UK Working Holiday Visa questions
you cannot take up a contract that states permanent position as the WHV is not the correct visa for it so you would be breaking your visa conditions, it has to be a contract of less than 12mths or temp work. Your best bet would be to talk to some IT temp agencies and see what the possibility of short/long term contracts. Or else you have the option of bar/cafe/holiday resort seasonal jobs.
