Skilled employment

Quick question re skilled employment for visa purposes, are you required to have your skills formally assessed, like you would for Australia?

Or is it sufficient that an employer has offered you skilled employment and that your experience matches that?

Just at the early stages of exploring options in NZ and haven't been able to figure this out.

Thanks

Some trades need an assessment and/or registration what trade are you in?

There is also criteria available on INZ website as to what constitutes a skilled job offer from an employer, you can also check if your job is on the skills list on the website

Hope this helps

Re: Skilled employment

Solicitor is on the list of skilled occupations, minimum requirement is 5 years experience.'

Requirements to claim points for skilled employment (Category A)

A relevant recognised qualification which is at, or above, the qualification level on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework. The qualification must correspond to the skill level indicated for that occupation in the Australian New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO)
OR
The relevant work experience that the ANZSCO indicates may substitute the required qualification
OR
The relevant requirements specified in the Long Term Skill Shortage List (LTSSL) for your occupation (if your occupation is included in the LTSSL)
OR
Five years of relevant work experience.

Taken from Solicitor Visa Options – Skill Shortage Lists, Immigration New Zealand

Now the thing is would you as a UK Solicitor get offered a position in NZ is any ones guess.

Sorry about the delay, thanks for the replies.

I'm not actually a solicitor now, although had considered getting admitted in Aus as a potential path to residency but decided not to.
