Question LTSSL - "Software Engineer" | Which degree should I use for PAR ????

Hi all,

I got lot of things cleared out through my last post here and thank you everyone for valuable thoughts in this forum.

I have 3 more doubts.

1) My profession falls under "Software Engineer" in LTSSL. Requirement they are asking for this is a Bachelor degree (Level 7) in Information Technology.

My degree is exactly Bachelor degree in Information Technology.
But I am having a masters degree as well which is titled as Enterprise Applications Development.

I am having this confusion which one should I choose for my (PAR) Assessment.
Is it ok if i go for my masters degree? But title is not exactly Information Technology.

2) Me and my wife having exact same degree. If I get my degree assessed by PAR, can I use the same reference when specifying my wife's qualification?

3) This may be a dumb question.. But I'm gonna ask...
"Information communications technology (ICT)" is one of the items in "identified future growth" area. Can Information Technology related jobs treated as ICT?

Any advice please..?

thanks in advance

I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you wish to claim bonus points for a qualification or work experience in an area of absolute skills shortage then you must meet the requirements on the LTSSL exactly. This would mean you need your BSc assessed if it isn't on the list of recognised qualifications. If you wish to claim 60 points for a higher degree and your masters isn't on the list then you would need to get that assessed. You can use your masters as your point scoring degree but if you want bonus points in AASS then you need to mention you also have the BSc and get it assessed. Basically INZ will not accept a higher qualification on the LTSSL

I don't know, I suspect not but cannot say for certain

I think so, but you can only claim points for a qualification or work Exp in an identified future growth area if you have an actual job or job offer

Any advice please..?

thanks in advance

Hi Persephone,

1) Both my Bsc and Masters are not in da recognized list. So that anyway I will have to get these assessed if I am going to use it. Problem i had was which one to get assessed bcoz in the LTSSL requirement they are asking is the Bsc in IT.

Yeah.. based on ur answer I think its get both my degrees assessed so I can score 60 points.

3) Hmm so I cannot claim points in "identified future growth area" for job experiences I had outside of NZ? Ok Got it..

Thank u for ur inputs...

Can anyone give me some suggestion for my point 2)

I personally think if you want to claim points for her degree it would need to be assessed as well but as I said my own opinion. you may be better off calling Immigration direct and asking them
