Default Things are getting excitingly close for us, but...

We are still looking to tie down a few answers to help with our visa selection. So, with thanks for the help you guys are so ready to provide, here are a few more questions!

Contracting - if we find a contract which meets all the other SMC requirements, would it be a problem? Have others used contracting rather than permanent jobs to go ESWV -> SMC visa? There doesn't seem to be any bar on using contract work on the various NZ fact sheets and points calculator, but it would be nice to be sure...

How long are the visa applications taking after the newly introduced points and procedures?

We're thinking of shipping our car over; and also a bunch of stuff in a 20' container - anyone have any hints or suggestions on this? Horror stories or feel-good stories about similar endeavours? AngloPacific seem a reputable bunch, and we have a quote of about £4k for the container - any good storage companies in NZ we should know about?

Thanks again guys!

A friend of ours and their family came over on the back of a contract offer, visa was only given for the time of the contract but that was 4 years ago so not sure how this would pan out with the new criteria and from looking on the new criteria the family would not of been able to come of the back of his visa if they applied now.

A great place to start for shipping is to check out FIDI website for a list of FAIM certified international removal companies that serve your area to make sure whoever you're using is fully qualified, licensed and independently vetted for overseas moving.

There are lots of tips about choosing reputable removals companies, comparing quotes and your different options over on our vendor forum for International Removals advice. Hope it helps!

When it comes to storage your removal company should be able to arrange that for you, most have their own storage facilities, which is probably the most simple way to do it.
