Why should Work-permit holder pay EI?

He lives in Calgary now, was only born in BC, but he doesn't get
: paychecks, he's been pretty much unemployed for a year...
According to: http://www.health.gov.ab.ca/ahcip/premiums.htm, he would likely qualify for
the "Waiver of Premiums Program", and would not expected to pay health insureance
premiums. If he is paying the premiums now, he should contact the AHIP offices (there is
one at: 727 - 7 Avenue S. W. Main Floor - right next to the LRT line), and make the
necessary arrangements.
And yes, I do agree that charging the taxpayers extra for the health coverage is a digrace
for province, which is raking in multi-billion dollar revenue surpluses, year after year.
Calgary is not a nice place to be if you haven't got work ...
