TWP renewal questions
Hi
I'm hoping someone can help us, we've always found you very helpful in the past!
My husband has a TWP associated with his job and today we got the renewal for 2 years. On the original TWP myself and our children were listed but we're not on the new one. Is this normal? What would happen if we tried to get back in the country if we're not mentioned on the TWP?
Also, I have an open TWP. I applied for my renewal online after my husband had sent his renewal by post. We didn't realised that mine would be processed first, within 6 weeks, my husbands has taken 4 1/2 months, and I got refused on the basis that he didn't have a current one. We weren't advised by my husbands work that we should have applied together. I now have to pay $200 fee for a refusal and a further $150 to process a new TWP. Is this worth appealing? Has anyone else had this problem?
We really appreciate any advice we can get.
Many thanks
David and Vanessa

Why did you think that your husbands work should have told you about your owp? Are they immigration lawyers?
When you applied for your permits originally, presumably you sent your joint paperwork off at the same time?
Again I presume that when these were issued they were issued for the same length of time - why on earth would you not apply for your new ones together too.
I'd just put it down to "ooops we f****d up" apply for your owp and chalk it up to experience.

Re: TWP renewal questions
Hi
Thank you for replying, although I found the tone quite offensive.
My husbands work permit was confirmed when we came over and we we round the flagpole for mine 7 months later, so they were done at different times. Although they did both run out at the same time.
I called the immigration office when the refusal came as they said I didn't have an employers letter. I queried this as it was an open permit, the lady said to me that my husbands employers should know that the renewals should go together as she would expect them to know the system. They successfully applied for the LMO after all.

The first thing that I would want to do, would be to familiarise myself with the process. We even see incorrect advice given out from so called immigration specialists on here.
Your husbands company only really need to know about his work permit. One would assume they would know about owp's for sure, but you know what they say about people who assume!
Like I said it's unfortunate - but you can't blame someone for not telling you something if you didn't ask the question.
I'm not meaning to come across as offensive. I just think if people educate themselves as much as possible before something gets to this stage it staves off situations like this.
That's what this forum is for, lots of advice, different opinions and hopefully a happy ending.
