Hello!
Just a quick update on our situation. Things are not going smoothly, because why would they?

I just got an email from the CIC saying I have to do another medical within 30 days or my application may be refused. The medicals expired because of their error, but it's still my responsibility to pay for another medical examination.
I don't know how much more of this I can take.

My husband is raging and wants to contact the Minister for Immigration saying that just because they didn't do their job properly, I shouldn't have to pay for another exam, I don't know. I should just probably get it over with, but I can't help being extremely bitter about this whole thing. They were the ones who waited for a whole year for documents they already had and now I need to prove yet again that I don't have syphilis.

It's upsetting to say the least. Should I even try and fight it?

Personally, I would comply and then make your comments afterwards. At the end of the day, while you are questioning it/arguing with them, your file is not processing. Get the processing going again and then question CIC etc. after. You've been through enough already.

That's what I would do.

Fair point...

Everyone in my Canadian family is wondering how the CIC is not trying to make up for their mistake. I now genuinely feel that it's personal for some reason. Because we've pestered them, or because I was born in the wrong country. I don't know. It's probably paranoia, but I can't help it.

I'll just organise that bloody medical and pay for the damned thing. At least it's cheaper here than it was in the UK.

I agree it's absolutely unfair. I'm sure it's not personal even though it seems like it.

Now it's about getting the processing back on track quickly and then doing the other stuff after if you still want to.

I agree with Snowy, it's super annoying but arguing at this point isn't going to accomplish anything, so just grit and get it done. You can complain afterwards.

I understand your frustration and anger - I had a similar issue, CIC lost my sons application which resulted in several years delay = I had to undergo several medical examinations and additionally prove I didn't have TB whilst my son had to take several medicals due to the delays as well as go and see a psychologist to prove he was of sound mind (he had admitted to smoking the odd joint as a teenager, at parties)! It was the most frustrating time ever - and expensive!

I totally agree with everyone else - have the medical, prove whatever you need to and then complain once you have PR. Arguing with them will not change anything - other than end your PR application.

As my TB specialist said "CIC require us to jump through their hoops and that is what we have to do".

I know it's ludicrous but just book another appointment.

Best of luck.

I just called a number of doctors - some of them actually specialise in this (wow! I had no idea you could spend all that time in medical school and then just settle for medicals for the CIC) and booked an appointment. The earliest nearby was the 31st (and I have only 30 days to do the exam, so I'm hoping it doesn't take the doctor long to process and send all the information to them). I shall keep you all you posted, but I'm half-expecting them to come up with something else now...

And Siouxie, I have no idea how you managed to get through all that. You're a tank

Thanks, lol - it was a very frustrating time, for sure.

If the Panel Physician is able to e-file, the report should get to CIC medical division pretty quickly (you might want to make them aware of your time constraint) - but I would make sure that you send CIC a copy of the confirmation of undergoing the medical which you will be given that day. That way, they know you have done the medical and won't dismiss your application even if they haven't received the report from the doctor. The requirement is for you to undergo the medical within 30 days, which you will have done.

Best of luck and try not to stress too much...

Hi , Im really concerned about my husband visa. It's been 16 months since I applied. Last September 3 2015 my husband was asked to get his medical done. Which he had done twice. In November cic asked for documents which we provided with when I applied. Marriage certificate, itinerary documents ect: I just don't get what taking so long, ? 😳 in cic website the processing time is 17 months? But I haven't heard anything after all my documentation been sent!?

A few questions before anyone can really give you much of an answer...

--are there any extenuating circumstances in your file? (for example, divorces, kids or other dependants, criminal history, lots of previous countries of residence, etc)

--is there anything about your relationship that might be considered for higher scrutiny? (for example, large age gap, large education gap, very quick marriage, etc - not saying that these are necessarily flags, but they do tend to result in more scrutiny by CIC - MASSIVE GENERALIZATION, before anyone accuses me of anything untoward!)

--was your application otherwise sent in complete?

--is your husband from a visa-exempt country?

1. Look up your MP's contact details (Google can help). If you don't know who is your MP, http://www.lop.parl.gc.ca/ParlInfo/C....aspx?Menu=HOC

2. Call and ask.
