Edit: Also does ECAS say your permanent residence application is in process? If so when did it go in process?

We are writing with regards to your family-class application for permanent residence in Canada. Please be advised that, in order for us to continue processing your application, we require the following: - Two passport photos for yourself and for your dependent. Please refer to our website for photo specifications. Please submit the requested documentation/information to us within 30 days including a copy of this email as a cover letter. Please submit all the above documents to us at the same time, quoting your file number (shown in the subject line above) on all correspondence, including on the envelope.
Neither has ECAS changed, we are still at "application received". But I think any contact is better than none. I wonder if it's just a coincidence that we heard from them just after I sent an application to Vegreville requesting extension of my stay in Canada (am here in Toronto with dual intent)...

Hmm okay, spreadsheet updated. Normally a request for passport photos is a sign of DM, but they would also ask for a scan of your passport. Keep us posted.

I read on another thread that being ' In Process' does not mean your application is being processed until there is a date when you click on the 'in process' message on ECAS. Is that true? (feeling depressed after a brief spell of optimism...)

Nope, just the COPR in the mail.. I know how you feel, until it was in my hands I didn't breath that sigh of relief!

Quick update - landed 7th July, no PR card yet, but got letter in mail today saying the photos I provided (back in April 2014) weren't the right format.... despite spending ages making sure they reached the specifications. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, any idea how long to wait after submitting new photos?

Hiya,
Update for the spreadsheet. I think our in process changed on May 14th, then it says on a new line (no date) "Medical results have been received."
On September 25th we received an e-mail requesting a new Schedule A as well as police certificate. Just mailed that over yesterday as it took a few to get back the police certificate!
Fingers crossed this means we're close...

Bumping basically just means returning questions to the top of the list in a forum. Generally of people have an answer they answer it...

Do all applications update to Documentation Verified By CIC? before Decision made, I've been waiting for 13 months in processing and my ECAS status still does not say this.
