Well, having read a number of threads here in search of an answer, I must say that I wish
you all the best of luck in your citizenship quest.

My wife and I were fortunate to have a relatively quick and painless application process.
I am her sponsor, and she is now a landed immigrant.

Now here is the problem...she wants a divorce.

Is there any way that I can..for lack of a better word.."get out of this"??

Now I'm stuck with financial responsibility for the next 10 years while she does her
own thing.

Any help would be appreciated!

Sincerely, Andrew

You are locked in for ten years. If yo divorce and you default on your obligations and
wish to sponsor another spouse you may be ineligible. For example if she ends up on
welfare and CIC is informed you could be denied the opportunity to sponsor someone else.
