RCMP Fingerprint Criminal Record Check (FSW)
Hi,
I'm in the process of applying for PR via the FSW route. It's been about 3 months since I submitted my completed application having been previously invited to apply.
Having lived in Canada for the past 18 months CIC has today requested that I submit an RCMP criminal record check within 30 days.
I have the following two questions:
1) Is it as simple as visiting my local police station and having my fingerprints taken etc (at least that's what the guidance says to do)?
2) Is this a good sign for my application? Is this something which is usually done towards the end of the application? The only other communication that I've had in the past 3 months from CIC is that I passed the medical exam.
Thanks

Read this link for the fingerprint and CR check
Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks | Royal Canadian Mounted Police
It usually means a person with a similar name/dob has a criminal record and they want yours to show you are not the same person. Nothing to worry about.

Just been that route for a visa to a foreign country.
If it says RCMP, it excludes a local police department.
Even if your local police is RCMP they may not be able to do it on location.
I had to go to the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires who do it for the Mounties.
Be prepared to spend about $100.00

Just to update this thread and in case the information helps anyone else - I just had the result of the RCMP check back and it took around a week in total.
Hopefully it won't be long until the rest of my file gets approved - I'm just beyond 3 months post application submission.
