Question regarding Canadian Citizenship eligibility
Hi
I have an imaginary question in my mind so thought to ask on this forum.
To apply for Canadian Citizenship condition states that counting of number of days for Citizenship eligibility is done out of 5 years immediately before the date of the application.
Suppose if someone has completed 3 years as PR but not in 5 years instead in 5 years and 6 months immediately before the date of the application.
Online calculator also counts 5 years immediately before the date of the application and gives another far off date when the person becomes eligible to apply for Canadian Citizenship.
Are the Citizenship officers too strict regarding this rule that whatever is calculated must be within 5 years immediately before the date of the application and not even in 5 years and 6 months immediately before the date of the application.
Do they return application if sent without completing number of days within 5 years immediately before the date of the application.
Thanks

Re: Question regarding Canadian Citizenship eligibility
Yes, it's strict - either you meet the eligibility requirements or you don't, there's no leeway given.
So say for example, you applied on 1st March 2018, they will go back to 1st March 2013 and look at time spent in Canada as a PR (or on TWP etc) since that date, and only those days will count. They won't go back any further than 1st March 2013.
HTH.
