PR Renewal
Ok so im completing the PR application to renew my PR Card. There seems to be very little back up evidence required in comparison to when i did my PR travel documents...for example they don't even ask for my original PR card details...just a copy of my passport and two photos and my SIN number.
do i still send in my work reference letter my rental agreement on my house and any other documentation like a copy of my old PR card?...i had to produce all this for PR Travel documents.
im also doing an application for my children...however they dont meet the requirements for renewal..but again their is no where on the application to submit documents to claim compassionate reasons for them to retain their PR..So im kind of stuck on theirs...again on their PR travel documents there was a section for compassionate grounds and document back up..but nothing on the actual PR application.
Any tips on this?

Re: PR Renewal
I always thought that advice on this board what that, if one doesn't meet the residency requirements to maintain PR (as your children don't), do not apply for a new PR card until such time as they do, i.e., after they have been here for 730 days.

See IRPA A28.
The Officer must consider the 5 years immediately preceding the date of application (unless the first 5 years of being a PR has not passed).
H&C Factors can/may also be taken into account. (IRPA A28(2)(c))
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

Yes you need to wait until they have been here long enough to renew.
Any idea how long it's taking at the moment to get the new cards?

Re: PR Renewal
seems a bit odd they have just one form that covers all PR card applications...not 3 forms..one for new applications...one for renewals and one for lost or stolen.

Re: PR Renewal
63 days fore renewals according to the website updated 11th August.
That's from receipt date. It would be nice to know if it sits in a pile for 60 days and takes 3 days to do; sits there for two weeks and is then checked (returned if incomplete) and then waits another 7 weeks; looked at after 5 weeks and then 4 to do etc.
Supposedly one can check status on the website but only from the time they begin action.
I have maybe a bit more than 3 weeks to go on mine and nothing came up yesterday. It's not particularly useful being able to check status within the last couple of weeks of it being done. There should at least be a received status.

Re: PR Renewal
Hi,
I wanted to mention that when we renewed our PR cards in 2014, CIC had us arrange an appointment and go in person to the Vancouver office to collect them. We had 2 weeks notice for this trip. It was literally 2 minutes confirming our identity.
Maybe we were randomly chosen to ensure we really lived in Canada.
Cheers,
Sarah

Well we get back from Cuba on Sept 30th. Our cards expire on Nov 22nd. I would like to visit a friend who will be in NYC the last week in November. So maybe I'll just have to drive so I don't need my PR card. Then I can send off as soon as we get back from Cuba and will have plenty of time before needing it again.

Hi
1. Why don't you apply now? You only have to send a copy of PR card with the renewal application. Then you should have your new PR card prior to your November trip.

Working on applications received on June 29, 2017
They are apparently taking at least 70 days to do it in 63.
