Default Police Clearance From UK Police

Hey Guys,

I was in UK in 2010 and was accidentally involved in a shoplifting case. Police came and have taken details of all my friends who involved in this. we, individually paid a fine of 80 pounds online to a court. I am now planning to apply for Canada PR. Will that be disclosed in my police clearance form from British Police authorities.

Thanks in advance for your time,

Hi there.

Welcome to BritishExpats.

As this seems a direct query for the Canada forum, I shall move it there for you.

regards

Were you actually convicted in court for shoplifting?
If so then it is considered theft under $5000 and an indictable offence in Canada.
If you paid the fine in full you would be eligible to apply for individual rehabilitation.
Overcome criminal convictions

You would not be deemed rehabilitated until 10 years after the sentence was completed in full i.e. 2020 or 2021.

apply for one and see as thats the only way you will find out whether you need to deal with it or it or not from there. Anything else will just be a guess.

Whether it's on your ACPO or not, you still need to declare it - to not would mean far bigger issues, even potentially having PR revoked years down the line for misrepresentation. So you must declare it.

HTH, good luck.

Was the offence you were convicted for a recordable one[1]?

If it was, it'll be listed on your ACRO certificate (until it is stepped down)
If it wasn't, it won't be listed.

HTH.
