Default No passport request for grandparent sponsorship approval

My mother received her COPR the other day on 30th June.

Fantastic news considering that she only undertook her medicals on 7th June.

Even better news, she doesn't have to send in her passport for a visa insertion, has a form to land with that she signs when the immigration officer tells her to and that's it. As before, she has to land within a year of the medicals.

Should speed things up a bit for any others in the same position.

The mailing of the passports for the COPR ended in December 2011 for visa exempt applicants. Most only have to submit a photocopy of their complete passport.

Hi PMM, how can we know who all are included in visa exempt category?

If you don't have to get a visitor visa (TRV) before you go to Canada, then you are visitor visa exempt. The list is here for those that require a visa : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp

Thanks PMM......Did a search on the immigration forum to see if it was mentioned anywhere but couldn't find it....I used the keywords in my title, so now maybe this will help others too.
