Default medical - reffered to own GP

Hi All, want your advice, had are medical couple weeks back and submitted application. My partners chest x ray was pasted to our local doctor as there was something which was thicker than normal which may or may not be something (nothing diagnosed - consultant passed back as no previous xrays to compare to). However I am unsure what the hospital who did the medical do, do they submit the results or wait on further feedback from your local own GP? plus if submitted, what do IRCC do with this, rejection or request further test?

I have emailed the hospital who did this to ask if they do submit or await our response, but nothing back yet.

When I had my medical / xrays, they thought they saw a small area of concern. They notified me that I had an appointment with a TB specialist of their choosing (at my expense). I had to undergo further testing until the specialist was able to confirm that there was no sign of TB, after which time I was deemed clear for the medical.

You 'should' receive notification of a specialist appointment, if deemed necessary, once CIC Health department receive the xray results. Your local GP will likely have no part in this, unless you choose to consult them.

Hope that is of help - this was my experience but others may have other views.

I think two things have happened here. One is that your GP has been informed of the results as the radiologist thought there was something that needed following up. Secondly that the radiologist will have completed the forms for immigration purposes and sent them and the radiographs on to IRCC

Presumably your partner has seen their GP, your post wasn't very clear here. Also when you contacted the hospital was it radiology that you contacted? Your best contact would be the radiologist's secretary.

IRCC can take a month or so to review your medical results. If they want further testing or consultation they will let you know.

As the others have said, it's just a waiting game. CIC may decide that whatever the medical examiner found is not of concern for immigration purposes; the medical examiner just saw something that warranted a follow-up with the GP. So just sit tight!

Thanks for posting an update.

Once you contact the panel physician they will be able to advise you what other tests are required and where to go to have them done.

I hope that it's nothing serious..

Best of luck.

just encase anyone needs this for future reference, the further tests are:

- Sputum Smear (Coughing up into a tube) 3 consecutive days
- TB Cultures from these for 6-8 weeks
- Xray again in 3 months time

This could not be done by the place that gave us the medical so had to be refereed else where....what a nightmare!

Phew, so just a bit of extra TB screening. I'm glad it's not something more serious - you do occasionally hear of cases where far more serious issues are uncovered during the medical! It's certainly a faff, but at least it's not a big deal. Hope you are able to get it all sorted quickly and easily!

Just out of curiosity, how much are those extra tests going to cost you?

As the sputum can be done anywhere, the private hospital jsut has to refer you, so i have been referred to a NHS clinic, so free. The additional xray is around £100, just over. The results have to be sent back to the private hospital with a signed IRCC form

Well that certainly could have been worse I suppose. I hope it goes well for you.

We still need to schedule medicals. I received my ITA last week but the CIC want medicals done up front and the high price is making me feel apprehensive. On top of the application fee and ACRO, it's a lot of money to potentially waste if they reject our application.
