Re: Manitoba - Strategic Initiative
Hey Everyone!
Just wanted to share my experience so far with Manitoba Province Nominee Program!
But first want to thanks to Manitobain. She is so patient with all of ours questions. If she wouldn't be here, this topic wouldn't be so great as is.
I am from Serbia but me and my family also holds Hungarian citizenship. We can work legally in EU, but we choose Manitoba as ours most desirable place to live.
I first express my willingness for exploratory visit in September 2011. I gathered all documentation and finally sent all my documents via email on December 26th 2011. I have been patient for more than one month and still have not received nothing from any of MPNP officers.
Then I started browsing internet and found this topic, I read all from the start and realized that i HAD TO RECEIVE AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT EMAIL from some of MPNP officers, just like in case of dyun76. I Then asked again and the officer told me that they might not received it because attachment is too big. Original email was 7.8 MB big and probably that is the reason why I did not receive acknowledgement email So anyone who is not sent yet all the documents please take care to optimize documents to acceptable quality and take care of size of attachment. I resized mine form 7.8 MB to 2.4 MB, just resizing resolution of images, and also convert all JPG images and documents to PDF. Too bad that someone did not put that info on main MPNP website: that you HAVE to receive an acknowledgement email, AND not to send large attachments. I learned that hard way.
Anyway, as soon as I resized documents Marcus replied within 4 days on February 28th. On February 29th I received "clarification email" from him with few extra questions and replied same day.
electronic copies I sent:
- Serbian Passport
- My CV on English
- Proof of employment from my current company
- Proof of employment from USA company I worked for
- Recommendation Letter from USA company
- University Certificate
- Passed College exams
For my common law partner:
- Serbian Passport
- Proof of employment
- College diploma -Translated
- English Language Certificate -Translated
I only forgot to send drivers license but i guess it's not such a big deal.
Now I'm waiting. Hope it wouldn't take longer than 2 months. I'll keep you guys informed

Re: Manitoba - Strategic Initiative
Hi everyone :-) I have been silently following this thread for awhile now and have found it super informative. I have learned so much from everyone sharing their experiences and opinions. Thank you all for the advice. congratulations also to all who have made it :-)
I would just like to share that I had the same experience as nordex and dyun76. I initially sent my request last Monday evening and by the morning I had my e-mail returned saying that my message exceeds the maximum fixed size of 15728640. Sorry I really don't know how to translate that into bytes :-)
After reducing my attchements, I resent it last night and by this morning I received an acknowledgement e-mail. Now the wait begins....

Re: Manitoba - Strategic Initiative
I sent my email last night with a 2MB attachment and received an acknowledgement receipt 4 hours later .
I take into consideration the working hours/working days on Manitoba when I send that email. Since my first and second email (the same one, being the former bounced back 17.9MB attachment and the latter with 11.2MB attachment) was sent just moments after the working hours on Friday March 2, 2012 (March 3, 2012 here in the Philippines). just my 2 cents. HTHs
Now, as many have mentioned it before.... the waiting begins

Re: Manitoba - Strategic Initiative
Hi Everyone, I've been following this thread for the past few days! very informative. I am planning to apply for an exploratory visit. I was invited by a hospital in Winnipeg for an interview and tour of the hospital. They paid for my trip and stay and also offerred me a job. I'd like to know more about Winnipeg before I make a decision to accept the job. What do you think are my chances for getting an exploratory visit. If there is a positive response at the end of the visit, how soon can I get a temporary work permit to start work in canada. What is the usual time frame for PNP nomination? Any help is appreciated.

@yellow trailer:
If you have been to Wpg already, had a job interview with the hospital and they offered you a job, why wouldn't they apply for an LMO then? that would be the fastest way in for you and you could apply after 6 months of work to PNP and then PR.
Some companies have troubles with LMO's and some rural areas in general...but work in Winnipeg AND in a hospital shouldn't have that sort of problem...what kind of work you plan on?
You probably could go through the strategic stream...but it probably wouldn't be any faster..

Thank you Manitobain. I'll check that option. I thought getting an LMO was a slower route.

Well, I have no idea what happens now but hopefully it will go to London very quickly. Have not received e mail or mail to confirm anything or method of how to check application status. Dont even know if this happens with MPNP. At least it has started from that end , very relieved at the moment that it hasnt come back. First time I have ever wanted to have my credit card charged .

Great news. We have also had our email notification on the 13/3/2012 to say that our application is considered complete based upon the requirements of the Instructions and Regulation 10 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA).
We also have our application number, payment receipt number and UCI number and we can now check our progress online via MyCIC : )
I did let Ilse know by facebook about our progress a few days ago.
We should start a thread based on timescales for PNP/ Pr applications from outside Canada as there is already one for inside Canada applications
Have a Good Day all ! Back to watching Cash Cowboys on History HD Channel ,who were in Winnipeg at 4pm Today

Re: Manitoba - Strategic Initiative
Hi to all in this forum! I have been reading all the published information for about one month, and found it very, very interesting and incredibly helpful. Manitobain has made a huge job, thanks a lot Ilse for all this time and dedication for helping people around the world in establishing in Manitoba.
I have a question: are specialists in Biotechnology and/or Pharmaceutical Industry currently in demand in Manitoba? I am a Chemical Engineer and also hold a PhD title in Biological Sciences, but can work in wide topics in biotech/pharma sectors. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

@New_Start: great to hear! When will you travel?
@maple44: thanks for your nice words I honestly don't know if your job is in demand (I declare this a "city job" ..and I am far from one) . You will have to do your research at the different job sites and/or maybe someone comes along here and has more knowledge.
You can also check on the immigratemanitoba.com website under "working in MB", you can type in your job title(s), click on the areas where you would like to go in MB (probably would be Winnipeg or Brandon?) and it will give you an idea if there are jobs outthere.
Or another good site is http://www.mb.jobfutures.org/home.cfm?lang=en . It gives you a general outlook.
cheers
Ilse
