Default Leaving uk army and joining Canadian forces

Hi my husband is looking at joining the Canadian forces after serving in the British army for 14 years he has just left the regulars. We know he can apply to the CF just now and if they offer him a post (he's a signals instructor and it's an in demand job so we're hopeful they will) we've read the CF sponsor your PR application has anyone been through the process that can give us any pointers or advice? Thanks in advance

Regular Officer Training Plan – Junior applications must be 16 or older.
Reserve Force - Applicants may be 16 years of age if they are also enrolled as a full-time high school student.

One has to have PR to get a citizenship waiver. This is not given to foreign nationals. Not heard of the Canadian military sponsoring civilians to PR. I know of some officers and specialists of other ranks who have managed an inter force transfer, but it is not a regular occurrence. If he is still in the Army it might work, but don't hold your breath.

Ahh ok, thank you. The posts on forums I have read are all dated before the change. My parents are PR in Canada so maybe need to get that before applying. The lady we spoke to today gave us an address and a list of what to send to them so we will still send off the info and see what they come back with. Thanks everyone for helping we really appreciate it

I have to admit I would be very surprised if there is not a specific waiver for UK citizens who have been in the army somewhere on the Canadian regulations.

Well I know when I left UK Forces and tried to join the Canadian Forces it was a no go then. Sure being attached to the CF is doable but you won't be getting PR status out of it or a citizenship waiver.

Did she give you
Contact Us ? Seems to me that would be the quickest, simplest, easiest, ONLY reliable way to get an answer "straight from the horse's mouth", so to speak.

(I hope you weren't simply given an immigration consultant's address).

I still find it interesting in the US one doesn't need to be a citizen to be in the armed forces.

Isn't it actually an expedited path to US citizenship for some people?

I've had a quick look around both the CIC & the CAF sites for information, & have to agree with this, but add that *serving* members on an *exchange*, can - in certain circumstances - get a citizenship "waiver". I don't think the OP's husband qualifies, on the details given so far.
Determine your eligibility for citizenship – Canadian Armed Forces

The info given was for the Canadian forces recruitment group and yes apologies it was Canada live event. It's sounding like we will need to go for express entry under skilled worker/trade then rethink about joining the forces immediately thanks eveyone for your advice and pointers
