Initial PR Card Status

Hi all,

does anyone know a way of checking the status of an initial PR card i.e. whether it has been sent yet?

I got to 61 days and received an email asking for new photos as they were out of spec (cynic in me says this was delaying tactic to avoid them having to say they had missed their own deadline but hey ho). Sent new photos the same day. That was 2 weeks ago and I have heard nothing.

ideas/thoughts?

I'd give it a bit longer. You would have sent photos to Sydney NS which is quite a long way from you and it'll be coming back by ordinary mail: not XPress. For people I know this has happened to, it's taken longer. I assume you sent the photos tracked and know they've been delivered. You could try calling the call centre giving the Agent the R number on the photo retake form.

:o no tracking :o

Will give it a few more weeks then try and call.

Just hoping it doesn't re-start the 61 days.

thanks, wife got her card (I was principal) in 50 days

Well if you didn't send the photos XPress, I assume they will have taken a while to get there. XPress quoted me about 4 business days from Vancouver to Sydney so I'm not sure how long ordinary would take. Let's say a week .... then processing .... then checked .... then sent back or you are asked to pick up from the local office so you can see that two weeks is probably rather soon.

I guess. Guess I am in PR card jail for the time being.

Had confirmation last night that my ETA has now been cancelled. Linked or not linked to PR card having been sorted?

eTA's usually cancelled once landing has been transmitted via GCMS.

Who knows IRCC do strange things and GCMS is their system not CBSA's though we use it.

We are at day 94 Landed 15th Aug.
Photos rejected 6th Oct ( taken at shoppers in TO),
Resent and received at cic, 10th Oct
We called last week and told they are reviewing photo retake request files from sept 8th.
So you get put right to the bottom again, they could not tell me if new photos are correct or reason for previous rejection either..

We linked our PR application online its not changed just says in process.
Our ETA is cancelled and work visa taken away on landing,
So we are also stuck in Limbo...

Will I need to have a separate set of photographs for my initial PR card to those that I sent in with for my COPR?

I sent 2 photos as per the specs for my COPR, and when I got my COPR back it one photograph was glued to it; the other was loose in the envelope.

I'm planning to land shortly in December, and will have a Canadian address so can get my PR Card sent to it, but reading this makes me think I'll need more photographs.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Shouldn't do. Only if they look at them & decide you need different ones.

FWIW, I had new photos requested as part of the PR app. Same photographer kindly refused payment for the re-dos, and we both agreed couldn't see what was wrong with them. When IRCC asked for a third set with COPR, I just included the first one again (that they'd initially asked to be replaced), which is now my PR card for the next 5 years. Soooo.... #QualityControl

thanks for the update, it is unbelievable frustrating just how long it takes them to print a piece of plastic. I remember my student card was done in 2 mins with a little machine :).

I still had the other 2 photos from the 4 taken for my PR application and checked them myself, absolutely nothing wrong. I still suspect the new photo request is a way of them buying time without having to report they are not hitting their deadlines. Does not bode well if the system cannot keep up now and Ottawo wants to increase immigration numbers over the next 5 years.

We didnt. They used the photos supplied with the sponsorship application. Mind you, the pr card took 90 days to arrive (from date of landing to receipt).
