Libby Purves wrote an article in the Times last year about one of these companies. She had a flat to sell which was not moving (in her case because of poor location) and she used this method. She was very pleased with result and said she would use again.

Guess it depends on the company and the deal on the table and how desperate you are to move on.

Jan Feb probably not great times to sell a house. Certainly around here things start to move again in spring.

Congratulations

Just a thought but have you thought about renting out your house, at the same time borrowing on your house and using that to get you something in your new destination.

Who nows by then you might have some interest and your place sold

Congratulations on the good news

My friends were in a similar position to yourself last year. They went through one of those buy your house companies and were very happy. They maybe didn't get as much as they could've if they'd sold to the usual market, but then the usual market weren't showing any interest. Anyhow, I know they were pleased with what they did get and are now happily house building in Ontario.
