Hi to all of u here,

I finally got a letter inviting me to collect my family class visa. In my case
...errrrr....maybe better say in my country visas are not sent by post but applicants
have to collect them personally. It was noted however in this letter that "the visa can
be collected only AFTER presenting proof of..(not mentioned?)...Canadian dollars or the
equivalent in another Western currency available for establishment in Canada, as
discussed in the interview, plus air fare." So my questions are:
1. How much money are regarded as sufficient?
2. Would it affect my visa if i rely on my husband funds in Canada and i show only the
money for my air fare???

R. I haven't been invited to an interview and no funds have ever been discussed. I'll be
grateful for any advice and opinion!!!

Here is my timeline for family class visa:

Application sent to Bucarest - 7 Juin 2000

AOR + medical forms received - 20 July 2000

Medical exams performed and sent - 21 July 2000

Visa issued - 9 Jan 2001

Letter to collect the visa sent on 17 Jan and received on 30 Jan 2001

Obviously they have sent it via monkey-post

Still haven't collected the visa but hopefully the funds required won't be an
additional hassle !

As a guideline for settlement in Canada, Citizenship and Immigration Canada would like to
see $10,000 CDN per principal applicant, and $2,000 CDN per dependent. You can provide
proof by showing bank statements.

But, as you have been sponsored by your husband, the amount of funds is not critical.
However, you should show proof of some monies plus air fare.
