Default Expired PR and visiting US by car

Hello!

My PR card expires on Monday and despite applying for a renewal over 6months ago they have only starting my application in the the last week i'm told.

My question is i'm due to drive down to Carolina next week technically crossing the border with an expired PR but with a valid UK passport. Will i be in for any problems when i come back to Canada on my UK passport? Will they look for my PR card and give my a hard time once its expired?

I have my application in process and completed over 750days so i meet all the residency requirements for renewal of PR.

Any hints or tips very much appreciated.

Show proof that you have applied for a new PR card and take a copy of the landing document (COPR) form and if asked just explain you are waiting for the new PR card.
The travel document is not applicable as you are driving by private vehicle.
BTW don't forget to have $6 in US cash for the I94 waiver even if you have a valid ESTA.

I was in the same boat once, was just slightly longer to get back in as they pulled me into secondary, took the card, and passport told me to sit in some chairs, waited about 45 minutes, then the officer came back, handed me everything and wished me a good day.

I didn't have the record of landing as it was lost long ago, so I assume they had to do some researching in their systems.

FYI, they also take Visa/Mastercard/American Express for this payment.

Not all smaller crossings have the ability for debit/credit card transactions so I always suggest $6 in cash.

Thanks folks, I'll take my chances and hope they let me back in. $6 in my pocket also.
