presumably though you could have a greyhound ticket pre-booked but the officer will then be alerted and will likely have lots of questions as to why you didn't just travel directly to Toronto.

What about a layover in Detroit for a couple of days for a visit? That may be an option with an onward ticket to Toronto (not the airport). Purchase flights Toronto-Churchill on arrival in Detroit.

Good news - Just approved. Just to clarify timings for a guide for others that may be in similar situ in future;
ETA applied for on Sat 10th June
On 10th June they requested ACRO and court records
I sent an enquiry on 10th querying court records (as never heard of such a thing)
On 12th the replied cancelling court records
On 15th 8am I submitted ACRO (applied for premium service and was with me by end of third working day)
28th the responded with approval
9 1/2 working days in total from submitting ACRO, 17 days inc weekends from initial application

On 10th June they requested ACRO and court records
