Electronic Foil - Part of Acceptance for Permanent Residence
Hi guys
Need some advice. We have been green-lit for permanent residence :-)
We have just received our paperwork back from the Canada Embassy in London which we need to take with us when we land in Canada.
However, the letter very clearly states that each of us has been issued two things: the confirmation letter for each of us, and also our visa/passport 'foil'.
It then also says that for visa exempt countries, of which the UK is one, that the foil is an "electronic foil".
Now, we have not been emailed any kind of 'foil'. So would we be correct in assuming that an electronic foil is simply applied to your passport digitally, so when the passport is scanned it will show it has a 'foil' attached to it?
If this is the case, can you do anything to check what electronic foils are on your passport?
Just a bit worried without double-checking first about flying to Canada on the hope that the foil has actually been applied to the passport.
Or have we misunderstood the whole thing?

Electronic = Attached to the passport.
UK citizens don't get the Immigrant Visa counterfoil attached to a passport page anymore.
Dont fret its normal.

Thank you - that's what we thought.
Is there any way to check that it is actually attached to the passport, i.e. some kind of website where you can check?
Would be nice to double-check it has actually been done before travelling rather than arriving and learning it's not been done. Nice to be sure, but guessing it's probably not possible to check?

It will be precisely the same information as is printed on your paper CoPR, so best to check that carefully.

Thanks guys!
Hey Chantell8115. It one week exactly from them receiving our photo's etc to us getting the landing paperwork back. BUT we have to land by March 9th so only a few weeks so I have a feeling they pushed ours through a little quicker - it can take up to 30 days apparently, thankfully not in our case otherwise we'd have around 2 weeks to land!!!
