Default Changing job while on EE?

Hi everyone,

Recently joined as I am looking to move to Canada and I meet the criteria got EE.

I'm sorry if this questions has been answered before, but if I am accepted and offered to come to Canada due to my current profession, what happens if you don't land a job for a while in the profession you were expecting? Can you work as something else for the time being? I can't seem to find that answer.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hi, welcome to BE.

You wouldn't be accepted 'based on your current position' - you only need a years skilled work experience in the past 10 years, so don't even need to be working when you apply.

But once you get PR you can do whatever you like when you get to Canada, whether that's work (in pretty much any job), study, set up your own business or even retire.

So if you meet the criteria and are definitely scoring enough on the CRS (460 or more as a rough guide), then go for it!

The only exception to the above would be if you needed a job offer to score enough on the CRS (as many do), then obviously you would have to do that job when you get to Canada.

HTH, best of luck.

Thank you so much for the information that has already put my mind at ease at the pressure of landing a job in the profession. I checked my CRS and it came back as 475.

Christmasoompa, do you mean you only need a years experience in the last 10 even in the UK or does that experience have to be canadian experience?

Thanks

Anywhere in the world. See the first bit of the eligibility requirements here, under 'Skilled Work Experience' - Determine your eligibility – Federal skilled workers

HTH.
