Default Canadian girlfriend, common law status.

I'm currently living in London with my Canadian girlfriend, she is a Canadian citizen but is living in the UK on a work sponsorship visa.
We want to move to Canada and have been looking at Common Law status, we have lived together for a year, but in the UK not in Canada, are we still eligible to apply for common law? Or do I have to get my own visa for Canada?

Thanks for your help, Adam.

Living together in the UK is fine, you just need to be able to prove it. Usually a shared lease and/or shared bills is the best way to achieve this.

Awesome, so I can get a visa sponsorship from her as common law? Also would I need to get a separate permit to work, to be able to get a job out there?

Thanks for your help.

You'd be a Permanent Resident of Canada. Have a look at the FAQ about spousal sponsorship for more info on this visa route (at top of page).

HTH.
