Default can you move work permit to new passport?

Our live in caregiver's passport is getting very full. She is going to get a new passport, but the Canadian entry visa (issued in the UK), and the stapled-in TWP (issued on entry to Canada) are in the OLD passport.

What are her options, beyond traveling for a long time with both passports? Can she herself move the stapled work permit to the new passport (stapling it in)? Does she need to carry a photocopy of the entry visa also? Or does she formally need to approach CIC about getting a replacement entry visa and/or work permit attached to the new passport?

Finally if she does it herself, is she supposed to formally inform CIC of any new passport issued to her, or just do it implicitly on entering the country?

Just wondering...

1. If she requires a TRV to enter Canada and the one on her old one is a multiple entry, then she is going to either have to apply for a new one, or carry the old passport around with the new one.
2. She can move the work permit to the new passport, by stapling it in.
3. CIC doesn't care at this point that she would have a new passport.

Her TRV is multiple. So is that the important document when traveling outside of Canada? And the work permit itself is only relevant when inside of Canada?

To take this to the extreme, does the work permit need to be in either passport? Could she remove the work permit from the passport and put it in a safe place (in Canada) as long as she has the TRV in her passport?

Not a good idea, as it will cause a real delay entering Canada, as Immigration will have to look it up on line every time.

Thank you for your answers. They make clear the difference between the "travel to Canada part" (the TRV) and the "work once you are back in Canada" part.
