Default Birth Certificate

Hi all,

My birth certificate is a basic one in the sense it just shows my name & place of birth, and doesn't show parents details. Is this still sufficient as a birth certificate, or do I need to obtain the bigger version that shows parent details?

That probably depends on what you need it for, but most offices want the long form version. It's very easy to ask for and pay for online at:

https://www.gov.uk/general-register-office

I had mine sent to Italy without any problems at all.

For the EE, guess I'd best request long form

Thanks!

The birth certificate will cost you £9.25, including p&p anywhere in the world.

There is a cheaper version for £6 that is a pdf sent to your email address.

DO NOT GET THE $6 one ......

....... it is good only for family history purposes. You need the one printed on official paper, ie the £9.25, for all other purposes.

I got the printed one. Figured do it faster and recorded so ended up costing a fair bit more... but at least it won't get lost in the post. Didn't want that risk with something that confidential lol... plus didn't want to sit waiting on it to turn up for a month.
