AINP petroleum companies
Hi
Can anyone help?
My boyfriend got offered a job with Westcan but realised that as they are not in the AINP programme he cannot get a visa
Does anyone know which petroleum companies in Alberta are part of this programme? Trying to find this out is proving to be very difficult!
Many thanks for your help
Louise

Hi, and welcome to BE.
Not sure what you mean by 'not in the AINP programme', can you clarify? Any eligible company can apply, they don't have to be on any kind of list, so as long as he and the company qualify, he would be able to get a visa.
What's the job?

Hi - thank you!
The job is to be a truck driver
AINP is a very specific programme that sponsors people outside Canada.
Westcan was in this programme but came out of it about 5 years ago.
It is very hard to find out which companies are in this programme!

Yes, I know what the AINP is. Just to clarify, it is for those in Canada too (most are already working in Canada).
Companies aren't in or out of the programme though, hence there's no list. West can have obviously decided not to go support employees through the PNP which is a shame, but just to clarify your boyfriend can still get a visa if they'll support a TWP - he just can't get PR.
I don't know many trucking companies that are recruiting international drivers at the mo, with the limits on foreign workers etc, but you could ask in the truckers forum.
What about your job, is that more likely to get sponsorship? If yours is skilled, then (assuming you're his common-law spouse) it would also mean you could both work (unlike if he got a work permit).
How old are you both, is IEC an option?

Hi
This is the problem that Westcan wouldn't support a TWP
My boyfriend is 39 and I am 44
My job is selling wine which is not a semi skilled trade
Do you have a link for the truckers forum?
Cheers

It sounds like your job would be a much better way to a TWP though, particularly as then your OH would get an open work permit so he'd be able to work too (with his job you'd be unable to work until you got PR). Your company doesn't by any chance have any offices in Canada? Bit of a long shot, but you might just be able to claim specialist knowledge if you maybe have knowledge of European wines that they don't as much.....
Have you checked to see if you're eligible for PR without a job offer? I assume you're not but just thought I'd ask.
And just double checking, but you have lived together for a year or more so can go on one visa application?
