We will be landing in Canada in the spring. We are now in the San Francisco Bay Area and
we intend to go to Toronto. We will be driving. Could anyone give some advice on:

1 which is the best route? how many days will it take?

2 We will move two cars with us and we are planning to rent a Uhaul. Is it possible to put
one car inside the truck and drag the other behind on a carrier? Will it be too difficult
to handle?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi,

My advice for mapping is to check out the MapQuest website. They now have trip
planning for the US and Canada. I use it frequently for my trips back to the States
and return trips.

I once made a trip in a 24 foot U-haul with a drive on trailer that hauled the entire car
from Laguna Beach, California to Allentown, Pa in 4 days, if that helps in timeframes.

Mapquest says it's about 2600 miles to Toronto from Frisco and 44 or so actual
driving hours....

Click the link below to go to MapQuest to see the route it chose...

ncisco&STATE_0=CA&ZIP_0=&CC_0=US&ADDR_1=&CITY_1=To ronto&STATE_1=ON&ZIP_1=&CC
_1=CA&dir=Get+Directions

Hope this helps...

Carl

Two cars behind a U-haul would be unsafe! Would they allow to do so? Actually,
unadvisable - speaking as someone who moved one car (on dolly) behind a large Uhaul From
TX to Ontario.

It is extremely difficult to back up - not advisable! When you move the wheel one way, the
dolly moves the other way - contrary to when you drive a car. And, we had an interesting
moment at a gas station when one of the dolly wheels would have hit a gas pipe - sounds
funny - but, you have to drive one of these contraptions to know what I mean. So, unless
you drive a 18 wheeler on a regular basis - don't try and move two cars behind the Uhaul!

Thanks for the advice. We have no experience with trucks, so I will not try to move the
two cars behind a Uhaul. Then what do you think is the best way to move two cars? Rent two
Uhauls or hire some moving companies (expensive?)? Or is it better that we drive one car
ourselves?

It would be best if one of your drove one car, and the other managed the Uhaul with the
dolly behind. It will be cheaper than professional movers, but more tedious - as you will
not have company for the long drives, and the car on the road will accumulate mileage.
Good luck and drive safely.
