Hi anyone got any experiences good or bad & suggestions on internet providers.

Is it all packages internet, landline & TV etc?

I have read about KODI etc also, am trying to plan ahead.

Before you can make a choice - or ask here about the relative advantages of one provider over another - find out what services are available in your village as some villages only have a very limited choice (e.g. one) of providers.

Much like the UK, the packages and offers seem to change weekly. and are equally confusing!

Hi. I have a contract wth UPC for internet,tv and phone. They have good English helpline and send engineers out if needed. Haven't had any problems with them, I pay extra for HBO...

Presumably you have a cable connection - not available everywhere. We only have satellite option, either digi sat or UPC but the services are not the same as the cable offerings.

We get TV and Internet via satellite with T-Mobile, haven't had any issues yet.

I checked the BBC website ... sadly for me no subtitles so it will mean playing scrabble or uno with the wife every night once we finally move over but who knows something might spring up between now and then.

We decided to just go with a medium broadband connection with Telekom (t mobile) initially. I think it's a 20mb connection which is fine for streaming TV via the internet.
We've used the laptop so far to watch British TV via a VPN (paid £3 a month for it). Not ideal, but it means you can watch iPlayer etc. as if you're in the UK. We haven't bought a tv yet though, so will be looking at whether we hook up to free sat services or antennae at that point for Hungarian tv, while keeping a hdmi cable handy to continue to watch British TV.

If you want to watch BBC and main UK channels in Hungary you will need a big dish 2m plus as they have moved transponders.

Sky TV in Hungary!
In order to receive all of the BBC, ITV and Sky channels you will need a dish at least 1.9m in diameter however we always recommend you speak with a local installer to ensure the dish is large enough and correctly aligned to the astra satellite.

Forget tv via a dish unless you subscribe to Sky but you will still not get all BBC, ITV, Ch4 etc. as these are on a tight beam for UK only.

Best bet is Kodi via internet and use FilmOn.
