Default Sole trader / tax

Hi,

Can anyone offer any advice on the best tax (and social security) solution for a couple who would be working self-employed yet both probably not quite working full-time hours.

KATA tax 50,000ft/month x2 would be simply unaffordable. Is there another option for sole traders.

There is an old closed thread with lots of info but it doesn't really offer any advice for this scenario, plus the info is possibly out of date. http://britishexpats.com/forum/hunga...-789619/page4/

I've also read loads about sole trader and private entrepreneur tax, seen mention of flat rates of 10% and 19%, but the info varies so much, it just gets more confusing the more you read.

Thanks in advance.
