Default Private Proctologist Prices

Just checked the prices for a private (no insurance/no taj card, so really private) Proctologist (Proctologus in Hungarian) (Bottom specialist) and have the following prices:

Szeged - Appointment (Consultation/Diagnosis) - 14,000 HUF. Another 14,000 HUF for a physical examination, further consultation and sample for the lab. And 6,000 HUF for the lab tests and confirmation of diagnosis.

Budapest is around 20,000 HUF in the above cases (i.e. expect to pay around 3,000 HUF to 5,000 HUF more for each set of treatments).

Benefits of even "really private" - You are seen within a week or so, compared to the UK's long NHS waiting list. Better than UK because you are seeing a specialist straight away and not a GP first. And much cheaper (UK rip off prices for this type of private treatment is 100s if not 1,000s of GBP).

UK NHS Example: Get a doctor's appointment (realistically up to 2 weeks these days), be referred to a Proktologist (from 1 months upwards depending on how urgent the doctor thinks your problem is) and then a wait of up to 2 or 3 months, if not more, to have the problem removed). This will be free under NHS but you cannot wait that long if your problem causes itches, creates soars, rashes and/or worse.

The problem with the UK GP process is that you need to see a GP first (in Hungary you can see the specialist first). The problem with this is that the GP can only diagnose (literally) common problems whereby they get it wrong sometimes (i.e. that's only a rash - Take this cream or better still Paracetamol - the wonder drug - and you will be fine. If not, come and see me again for a specialist referral). If the UK NHS split itself into two like in Hungary (childrens hospitals/dentists and gps versus adult ones).....in other words, the NHS need reforming!.......

Default Re: Private Proctologist Prices

Echo the above, perceived a potential problem, straight to specialist, physical exam which confirmed a potential issue, lab test, result next day, full ultrasound scan which (happily) confirmed a non malignant issue - the scan actually performed by a Dr, so able to give immediate diagnosis & written report, typed while I got dressed. All done & dusted within a week from my initial "discovery". Can't remember exact cost but definitely in the ball park suggested above for Budapest.
