Lyme disease is not a nice thing.

She was fine after taking the antibiotics but the thing about lyme disease is that it can reoccur. Sometimes it can also show no obvious symptoms so can go undiagnosed.

Glad to hear she has recovered. I do hope it doesn't return.
Those ticks are horrid little insects, I am in the Pillis hillside near Szentendre. This is an infested area and we are always aware of the need to spray ourselves.

I have been told (by my doctor) that if lyme disease is caught at the first instance of the red circular rash and the correct antibiotics are taken then that is the end of the matter, it won't (shouldn't?) return later, which is why it is so important to recognise the problem and get the fix quickly.

I think I must be lucky as I've never had to remove a tick from myself, apart from those that are still crawling around. I do remove quite a few from the dog but on him they can hide amongst his fur.

Get a (anti)tick collar from the vet. they work quite well.

We had that too, but switched to this liquid stuff that you put in the dog's (or cat's) fur - but I remember somehow that its operation is limited in time, it works longer for/against lice/fleas than against ticks - my wife knows better and keeps track of this in her calendar ...

If you plan you trip it might make life easier, buses in Hungary are usually pretty good at keeping to the time tables.
For Miskolc buses see Menetrend | MVK - "Megbízható útitárs!" which will give routes and times and for long distance see http://menetrendek.hu/ neither have prices but usually the long distance buses have a display that shows the price so you can see what the driver has keyed in for the ticket.
The train timetable website elvira.mav-start.hu/ does have the prices listed against each journey.
