Car To Give Away
Dear Members,
For some 5 years now I have been driving my Fiat Ulysse R682 STH backwards & forwards between Wales, then Scotland and Zala. It has behaved faultlessly with hardly any work needed.
I bought it in Wales for £1200 when the Icelandic ash was stopping me from flying. It was supposed to be a one way drive, abandoned here in Hungary. Instead, it's gone on and on.
It has now developed a very noisy CVT, I'm told its not the wheel bearing. My son-in-law, who is a deisel car mechanic in UK tells me it is relatively simple to get a scrapyard front drive and to fit it, as the engine does not need to come out.
I've gone and bought another car and intend to scrap the Ulysse next week, but if anyone wants it, they can have it.
Its in 2119 Pecel, just up from the airport. Its MOTed, insured and taxed till March sometime. I'm driving up there on Monday, so if someone wants to meet me on the M7, they can get a lift.
Apart from the shaft/CVT its in good working order. 7 seats, RH steering wheel. 5 can be easily removed to turn it into a van, as I have done on many occasions.
If anyone is interested, please p.m. me, or call me on my Hungarian mobile +36 20 265 8081 (yes I know this is public, but if a Hungarian calls me, I won't understand!)
Regards
Tone

I might also have been interested, for moving some stuff to Croatia but unfortunately I let my UK insurance lapse and if I got something like that now I would have to start again from scratch with zero NCB.

Yeah, but don't forget you would need only 3rd party, not even fire & theft. I doubt you would pay more than £100

I've just heard from my son-in-law in UK. A Ulysse drive shaft new is £40-£50. doesn't sound like an expensive repair to keep the dear old thing going. Unless someone wants it, I'm going up to Pecel on Monday and will leave instructions for my work colleagues to scrap it.

There is a company in Hungary that pays for cars to scrap...RHD etc. I will see if I can dig the details out.

"Thomas stubborn 06 30317-4687. Nagykanizsa and in and around New York..."
Hopefully he is only stubborn by name!
My own username evolved from the days when I was self employed in Scotland, doing domestic appliance repairs. The spare parts suppliers tend to make up account names for customers based on their trading names. I traded as Phils Domestics so one of suppliers gave me an account called Phidom. In 2005 I joined a website for repairers called UK Whitegoods and used the username Phidom there. On other sites I have sometimes used fidom, phido or fido but fido is often already taken so I sometimes add the BSA bit, as I am a BSA motorcycle enthusiast.

Dear Pollypaprika. This is very helpful, thank you. My work colleagues in Pecel have never scrapped a car before so don't know where any breaker's yard are in BP.

Well done. My company name is Tonick Watering. formed by Tony and Nick (who sadly died). I'm well known in the UK irrigation industry as tonytonick. If my fridge/dishwasher breaks down, are you still trading?

Not trading but if ever I can help I will. I'm moving to Croatia in a few months though. I am thinking I might be able to go into partnership with someone there and do the repair work. A lot of young people in Croatia speak English so if I find one who is unemployed and keen to learn a trade.....
