Hi All,

Does anyone know how much it costs to exchange a British driving license into a Hungarian driving license or how much a standard Hungarian driving license would cost if you were to pass your test in Hungary?

Driving lessons costs 3,300 Ft per hour (under 30 hours) and 3,500 Ft per hour (31+ hours) in Szeged. Does anyone know the prices in Budapest?

The road tax is paid to your local council as an extra charge on your property tax bill. It will depend on your vehicle, engine size, emissions spec. etc. my car is a 2008 Chevrolet Spark 800cc and I think I pay about 10,000ft per year. I did exchange my UK licence for a Hungarian one but can't remember if there was a charge. If there was, it can't have been expensive or I would have remembered. I didn't have to take a test apart from a very rudimentary medical.

Jeez, didn't realise road tax would be that high. That's nearly £300 per year!

I think you have a decimal point in the wrong place! 10,000huf is about £27 (conversion done on internet search)

You're right .... LOL .... was half asleep when I posted that! I was thinking I wouldn't be able to afford the kind of car I hope to have when I finally move to Hungary. Im looking at getting a 4W SUV.
