how safe is goa ?
Hello everyone,
the british press are now in goa looking for titbits on the very sorry stories
about all of the deaths that are happening on a almost weekly
basis. just how safe do u think goa is..please don't just knock the mother
of the latest victim because we know it could happen to anyone, old or young.
back in the day it used to only be a case of bamboo massage but now it's hang them from the trees or rape & murder
who would want a holiday in hell these days ?
rip goan tourism.

Re: how safe is goa ?
Goa is still a lot safer than the majority of countries we originate from I think.
It is obviously very sad to read of some of the tragedies of the past couple of seasons.
Perhaps folk get lulled into a false sense of security taking into account the past record of Goa ,and the good nature of it's people
In many cases people throw caution to the wind and do things they would never think of doing in their homeland .I am thinking of just simple things like leaving goods and chattels unattended on sunbeds whilst bathing etc.
With the growth of the internet, scallywags all over the world are alerted to all the latest scams ,and waste no time in introducing them before anyone is wise to them.
In short it has detiorated ,but still very much better than the majority of places in the world.
Always Look on the Bright side.

As Enfield said earlier, many people are lulled into a sense of security by Goa's past reputation when truly it was safe for everyone but reality is that Goa is not the idyllic paradise of two decades ago. The Goan "fabric" that helped keep law and order (better than the law could do) is being shredded.

Exactly, and for the Goan Government to play it down by saying things like, 'Well more foreigners die in Thailand each year than in Goa' is totally inexcusable. The poor girl Scarlett was denied the most fundamental and basic Human Right of all, The Right to Life.
Goa should have a zero tolerance approach to drugs and especially rape and murder instead of trying to cover these hideous crimes up. One murder of a tourist is one too many. Those who try to cover such things up should be charged as an accessory.
Only now is the tourism minister starting to panic about the negative effect all this is having on tourism.......Where has he been for the last two years?
Goa needs to take the Dubai approach to drugs and druglords.
As for the police.....dont get me started!:curse:
How safe is Goa?............it aint that safe anymore!

I believe there is an enquiry into why it was blatently covered up now, but how effective that will be .... who knows
I'm just waiting for the first "what was a 15 year old doing out on a beach bar in the early hours of the morning" comment from somewhere

People can argue about the rights and wrongs of parenthood and about Scarletts lifestyle but that does not excuse what happened to her. Murder is Murder is Murder.
