Re: Working in Germany
Hi Aidan!
I assume you are a brit, right? IN this case you should not have a problem working permit wise first of all, which is good.
There is a big market for small jobs in Germany, which goes through agencies like manpower or others.
In Germany any job that is advertised through these companies (either online or at one of their offices) and is not a "full" job but limited to a certain time period, e.g. two months or so, is called "zeitarbeit".
Depending on what you do it would be good to speak some German, only with English I guess you can always try any call center or the classic - be a staff member at Irish or Aussie pub.
Good luck and btw: Berlin is great!
Cheers

If you've got a degree, there's always bits of work available from the language schools - Linguarama, Inlingua etc. If no degree, try McDonalds and Burger King; the money isn't bad and I've know people who've worked there with almost no German. In the right places, you can walk in and start the next day.
Hope that's helpful,
Andy
