I am loooking for recommendations re hotels in Cologne for three nights in June. Have looked on Hotels.de site and Cologne web but am always interested in personal recommendations. We will be a group of 4 over 60s - reasonably priced (or even less!!) hotel not part of chain.

I can recommend www.hrs.de/se/7000121?lang=uk (Hotel Reservation Service)
Just fill in the details and you will get all available Hotels in Cologne. It works for other cities and countries too. The prices already include internet discounts.
Have a nice trip and a good time in Germany.
Regards, Andre
