Default moving from Germany to Scotland - tax returns

I will be moving back to Scotland in June and am trying to understand if I need to keep doing German tax returns on my income in the future. I have a German state pension and a German works pension. Until now I have only had a German tax return where they add my UK old age pension which is my only UK income to my German income. My German income will continue although I will not be resident any long in Germany.
If I need to do 2 tax returns does anyone have an international tax contact in the Edinburgh area.

Totally unrelated and you may not have enough time to do so - however, have you consider applying for German citizenship before returning to Scotland. An EU citizenship post Brexit would be something useful to have.

Thanks but I am not interested in having German citizenship.
At my age I am fine with being British.

Once you return to Scotland you will file a self-assessment return with HMRC reporting your German pensions which will be taxable in the UK but no longer taxable in Germany. Personal experience since I also have a German pension but am now tax resident in the UK.

Great thanks - my German tax consultant ( Steuerberater) told me that I would always have to complete a German tax return as I had German income and then declare this in my UK tax return and when I receive the tax agreement show the amount of tax paid in Germany so it can be offset using the double taxation agreement. I will check with HMRC as it is easier to understand them.

Good idea. HMRC these days are extremely helpful.
